News!

Good news! For some time now I have been thinking of selling some of my vintage goods and finds on Etsy. I finally made the jump and added my own store called The Mango Archives. What else could it be called, really? I will be adding some new goods when I come back from vacation after the Thanksgiving week.

Please make the jump and check it out. I would appreciate any tips and advice from you Etsy experts!

In other news, I built three ladders, vintagefied them and made them into an arch. The why, the how and how to incorporate it into home decor is coming soon. Just this last weekend it was rented out and used in a wedding (sans the home decor part of it). Here is the sneak peek:

My work featured on Southern Wedding Magazine

So this has nothing to do with home stuff, I know. But, about a month ago I was invited by the great Chelsey Boatwright (my South Florida photog crush) and Desiree Dawn (my new wedding planner crush!) to participate in an inspiration shoot. I have been dying to show you the shoot! This week, to my excitement, Southern Wedding Magazine decided to feature our shoot on their page! The shoot, designed by Desiree, was cabo inspired. She did a great job with the styling and Chelsey captured everything beautifully. Here is what Desiree had to say about it:

Our inspiration was from all of the beautiful combinations of Spanish and
Latino cultures in South Florida – a Cabo Hacienda Fiesta! South Florida is just
so lush and tropical almost year round, it seems silly not to enjoy all of the
bright and happy colors of the greenery and fruits – and the people! We created
a “Dinner for Two” scene showcasing beautiful pottery and fresh mangos – and
Tequila Sunrise cocktails. A Tequila Tasting table provided “guests” with a
chance to enjoy five tequilas – salt and lime included. And a “Toss Table” gives
“guests” the option of choosing petals, oats, salts, rice crispies or lavender
to toss towards the bride and groom. The bouquet was made of peonies, tulips,
roses and lavender, and the table decor was made of palm leaves, roses,
bougainvillea, tulips and artichokes! Our bride and groom, Sara and Kevin, were
gracious enough to pose for some post-wedding shots, and they were a delight!

I can't wait to work with this great group of ladies again. I had so much fun creating these floral arrangements, I think they are my favorites to date. So different and fun.

Before & After series supporting Habitat for Humanity

I just submitted the laundry room into “Before & After series supporting Habitat for Humanity.” I had not heard about it before, but I just found out about this great series through Russet Street Reno.

Here is how it works as per the instructions over at One Project Closer:

“You submit pictures and a story from a home improvement project you* worked sometime over the past year. Projects can be anything from a simple room makeover to a complete landscape overhaul. Every Sunday from June 21 – September 22, 2011, we pick the most compelling entry and post the story on our site. If your submission is picked, you get a $50 gift card to either Lowes, Home Depot, or Amazon. And, the best part – we make a donation of $100 to Habitat for Humanity in your honor!

At the end of the Summer, voting begins, and the best before and after wins a bonus $150 gift card to one of the three stores above.

*You (including your family and friends) have to have done at least 75% of the work on the renovation! No contracted jobs for this contest!”

Make sure to jump over and submit your entry!

Barnhouse Chic

Fist off, a big welcome to Ruffles and Relics to the world of blogging! She just started blogging, but like us, she loves antiques, blogging and tutorials, so please drop by her blog and leave her a big hello!

Now, did you all know I am dreaming of owning a farm in Virginia in the future? Well, surprise! I can’t wait to have a big farm with cows, horses, goats, sheep, ducks, etc.--not that I know anything about farming, but I am sure I can learn. From Miami city girl to Virginia farm girl. Can’t wait. Now if only Mr. Mango and I could just finish our degrees and find a job up there…

Meanwhile, I can dream of my future farm and barn. Ready for some good ol’ farmhouse dining inspiration? I’ll call it “Barnhouse Chic.”
